In very short time, Rachel Therrien managed to stand out as a trumpet player and composer not only on the Quebec music scene but also internationally. She takes her inspiration from her experiences around the world to create a music of her own. A professional musician since many years, she has to her credit several years of study. A degree in Jazz at the University of Montreal, one year of classical, jazz and percussion studies at the Instituto Supérior de Arte, in Havana, Cuba, and since she perfected with some of the great masters of jazz in New York. (Dave Douglas, John McNeil, Laurie Frink, Johnathan Finlayson, Clarence Penn, etc.) Since 2009, she runs her own project and accumulates the benefits of her first album “On Track” (2011). She is currently working on the second album which will be partly recorded in Colombia. (Launch in 2014). The young trumpeter combines at a time creativity, professionalism, technical expertise and rigor. With new original compositions and accompanied by star musicians of the new generation, Rachel brings her audience at the heart of her many travel experiences. This Jazz show reflects perfectly joy, happiness, melancholy and improvisational lines embellished by a musical orchestration which is undoubtedly the great value of her project.
